The program is structured with four taught modules and a research dissertation. Please note that this is an indicative list of modules and is not intended as a definitive list. CE7011 – Management of Project Risk, Quality and Safety (Credits – 30) Good practice and the importance of advice and guidance are emphasized. Quality management is dealt with in relation to the requirements of the latest edition of ISO9000, and the process leading to registration under this standard. Modern Practices in quality and the use of various quality management techniques are covered. CE7016–Dissertation (Credits – 60) The module allows the student to study an area of interest in significant depth and allows the student to demonstrate a clear understanding of what has been learnt through a variety of means; a literature review, a research proposal, an oral presentation and a substantial dissertation. The learning outcomes will be achieved through a combination of workshops and tutorials, electronic learning tools and independent study. Supervisors will be allocated to each student in order to give advice and academic guidance. Typically 600 hours of learning time is allocated to this module of which 30 hours will be in the form of lectures and workshops and up to 12 hours of formal contact time with personal supervisors will be made available. CE7111 – Seismic Design of Structures and Substructure Design (Credits -30) CE7112 – Structural Design in Concrete and Steel (Credits -30) The module will be delivered through a variety of formal lectures and tutorials. The lectures will outline theory which will be exploited further during tutorials where a more interactive style of delivery will be adopted to allow students to undertake questions and problems.
