Subjects

* Unit 01: Engineering Mathematics
This unit enables learners to develop previous mathematical knowledge obtained at school and use fundamental algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, statistics and probability for the analysis, modeling and solution of simple practical problems. It is intended to provide a basis for further study of the analytical methods and applied mathematics needed in various stages of engineering and construction further academic programs.

* Unit 02: Engineering Science
This unit enables learners to understand and apply fundamentals of statics, kinematics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, electricity and electromagnetism, analog and digital electronics and solution of practical problems. It is intended to provide a hands-on experience on circuits and measuring devices.

* Unit 03: IT Applications
This unit develops knowledge and understanding about computing, computer systems, efficient use of a computer, as well as the skills that will enable learners to use word processing, spreadsheet and database software as well as industry-standard CAD software. Skills to format and manipulate text and images are developed, enabling learners to produce reports and assignments. This unit will also help develop learners’ understanding of computer programming techniques and will enable them to design and develop programs for a variety of simple applications.

* Unit 04: Communication, Presentation, Study Skills
This module provides students with an understanding of inter-personal communications and an appreciation of effective oral and written communications as essential employability skills required for effective employment and career development. Further, it facilitates and encourages students to develop their skills in verbal and non-verbal communication, effective use of presentation techniques, writing for defined audiences, listening techniques, present and communicate within groups and as a group in a consistent and coherent manner. This module further aims to develop various laboratory and study skills such as carrying out laboratory work to defined procedure, preparing report, understanding and analyzing construction and electrical wiring drawings.
